Lenovo Legion Y7000 is a Windows 10 Home laptop with a 15.60-inch display that has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It is powered by a Core i7 processor and it comes with 6GB of RAM. The Lenovo Legion Y7000 packs 1TB of HDD storage. Talking about the look of the laptop it is similar to Y540 in look. It is sleek, unlike other gaming devices which is usually bulkier and heavy. Black and a hint of iron-grey in color, the laptop has a flexible screen or lid. The lid rotates up to 180 degrees which is pretty cool.
More key point!
Legion on the back of the lid illuminates the red color logo. The back area sticks out a bit, which has other utilities such as exhaust fans, USB Type-C port, one Mini DisplayPort 1.4, one USB 3.1 port, an HDMI 2.0 port, an Ethernet RJ45 port, the power jack, and a Kensington lock slot. The laptop is not much comfortable in portability but does a better job than any other gaming laptop.

After using and testing it, I feel it’s a good deal to get your hands on. I did not experience hanging and heating while playing games, which is very uncommon for other laptops.
I personally liked the screen brightness, its perfect for gamers. The laptops have pre-loaded software such as Lenovo Antivirus, Lenovo Nerve Center, Lenovo PC Manager, Lenovo Vantage, McAfee LiveSafe™ Trial, Microsoft LinkedIn, Microsoft Office Trial (n/a in China, India, or Japan), PowerDVD/Power2Go.
Lets begin with brief review of LENOVO LEGION Y7000 REVIEW.
- Decent Battery life
- Coldfront built
- Great display screen
- RTX graphics
Laptop gaming reinvented by LENOVO LEGION Y7000
Beginning with LENOVO LEGION Y7000 REVIEW. The Lenovo legion Y7000 has a pretty decent battery life as compared to its competitors. After continuous web suffering, it gave me 4 hours of battery life. The Legion performed slightly above the 4:26 category average and even outlasted the Helios 300 (3:00) and TUF FX705. that’s pretty impressive. The power supply is 170 W AC Adapter W and the battery type is Li-Po.
The next best thing about the laptop is its ability to stay cool after multiple rounds of gaming. A gamer knows how irritable and damaging the heat could be to the device. And ultimately hampering your gaming experience. But this device takes care of it. It included individual CPU and GPU cooling, for cooler system temperature. There are a total of four thermal vents to pass off the toxic hot air trapped inside the system. This was possible due to its high built platform which gives space to ventilation. For coller keyboard temperature, we have dedicated heat sync. There are almost 70 individual fan blades to reduce system noise as claimed by the company itself.
With Up to 32GB, Intel® Optane™ and storage of Up to 512GB PCIe SSD and up to 2TB HDD, this laptop has not disappointed me when it comes to multitasking. I opened multiple chrome tabs, Microsoft office, and games at the same time, and I did not find a problem with lagging and hanging. It runs butter smooth even with multiple tasks running seamlessly in the background. It handled AAA games very beautifully.
The display, on the other hand, Is very bright and gamer’s friendly. Another key point, The Legion Y7000 is 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080p panel. It has a near-edgeless 15.6-inch FHD display along with its thin bezels. Apart from that, it provides 300 nits of brightness, 72% Color Gamut, and an IPS antiglare screen. All this fact provided by the company now takes a look into what my eyes said. I am a fan of the bright colorful display. And this device had fulfilled by the requirement in that aspect.
I watched several movie trailers to check its comfort level with the eye. To point out, It was an amazing experience. I watched tenet and dolittle trailer, I was awful at the smooth transitions of colors. It is interesting to note that the Legion Y7000 beats the category average (273 nits) and the TUF FX705. However, it couldn’t beat the Helios 300’s luminous 312 nits.
Discover the best gaming experience via NVIDIA® GeForce RTX. RTX stands for a ray-tracing platform. Amazing GPU built up and RTX platform will let you feel the real-time ray tracing, artificial intelligence, and programmable shading. I got a 3d hint to gaming due to RTX. It gives life to the game, makes it even more intense, cinematic-quality rendering. I played tomb raider and pubg. And it was pretty breathtaking.
What I did not like?
- Small keyboard
- The audio could be better
About the keyboard
Here are a few things which disappointed me while I get my hands on Y7000. The keyboard is smooth to work on. I felt satisfaction every time I smash the keys. Backlighting is provided with the keyboard which makes it easily accessible in dim light. Out of all the appreciation, I think the keyboard is very tiny. I punched the wrong keys many times while I tried doing my writing work with it. And it is not a matter of surprise if I say that the touchpad is also smaller than normal other devices. Though I can easily use one, two, and even three-finger touchpad mechanism occasionally. Being a gaming laptop, there is no problem in negotiating a keyboard for other facilities that are much important to a gamer.Y7000 uses Harman® speakers with Dolby Atmos® for Gaming.
I am not a big fan of its audio quality. Though The speaker was very too sharp and irritated my ears. With this in mind, I tried to test it by playing ‘ perfect’ sung by Ed shareen. It was next to ugly. The speakers lack bass and muffled. I could not listen to the lyrics clearly. I really hoped its audio to be good since soundtracking is integral to gamers. One thing that really disappointed me is the webcam. Its located at the bottom of the lid which makes it very uncomfortable. It captures nothing besides my nose and chest.
A picture of mine taken from the webcam did not impress me at all. The picture seemed blurry and missed details and lighting. So if you are thinking of live streams, a humble request from this tech expert is to avoid this laptop.
Comparision and alternatives
Acer Predator Helios 300 Special Edition priced at $1,399, have an edge over legion Y7000 due to its perfect webcam location and excellent audio. Meanwhile, The “Advanced Model” of the Razer Blade comfortable pad and keyboard next to MacBook. It is priced at $1,999.99. Another affordable purchase could be Dell G3 15 at $949.99, but it does not have a strong display. Gamers usually prefer a good bright and sharp screen brightness. Thus Y700 out ruled dell gaming laptop.
The cold front built-in Y7000 is unbeatable. Not even MSI GS65 Stealth priced at $1,799 could beat it. But it has definitely beaten the keyboard and webcam issue.
By this time, we have come to the end of LENOVO LEGION Y7000 REVIEW. Lenovo legion Y7000 is a budget-friendly gaming laptop starting priced at $1,099. It is compatible with both beginners and expert gamers. By and large, It has all the facilities a gamer will look up to. Coldfront, multitasking, and decent battery life are major reasons to buy it. However, I am not really a big fan of its audio and tiny keyboard. But we cannot expect the world from a gaming laptop priced at $1,099. All things considered, In my opinion, you should definitely get your hands over this device. For the most part, if you think the same you can get it from amazon or any other shopping platform for that sake.
