What tech experts say about Lenovo Chromebook duet?

Duet says it all.

Lenovo Chromebook duet is an awful yet a typical tablet cum laptop. Basically, it’s a laptop with a detachable screen to rebuild it as a tablet. The idea that it can be a slate-style tablet and a laptop just with a single arrangement named it a duet, we guess. let’s begin with the review.

Falling under the affordable and value for money category, this device has astonished many tech experts. Unlike other tablet lurching slow sluggish, this device has a very beautiful built up. It is ultra-portable. Backing up its portability claim is the fact that it weighs less than a pound(450 grams to be precise) and a compact dimension of 239.8 by 159.8 by 7.35 mm. Hues of grey and black color along with sleek and super thin set up give it an expensive and royal touch. Apart from its outer beauty, inner beauty has also stunned many of us. It has four gigs of ram 64 gigs of internal storage, and the processor is MediaTek Helio P60T Octa-Core.

After testing it for a couple of days, I think it’s a steal deal. Duet as my primary driver, I feel a comfortable saying it feels much more like a Surface Go with some concessions than it does an ultra-budget PC.

Key features –

  • Super affordable
  • Durable battery life
  • Boots in as fast as eight seconds
  • Easy and smooth attachment of the keyboard
  • Alluring gestures
  • Support USI stylus
  • Bright, clean and sharp screen
  • Satisfying camera quality

Budget-friendly

Chromebook duet’s Price star at $ 279 that’s with the keyboard, and the kickstand included. The kickstand has a solid magnet that appends the console easily and securely to the tablet, thus, making a PC. The hinge on the backbends to numerous degrees depending on your preferences. Outside the tablet are charging plug, speakers, single USB type c port,10W Adapter, and 3.5 mm headphone adapter.

Unbeatable battery life

Talking about battery life, it’s unbeatable. The company says 7,000mAh power cell will run for 10 hours. But my experience says it will run for a good 11 hours. This gives it an edge over other devices; however, it charges not so fast. One hour of charging will lead to an almost 25% charge. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet also conquered the average battery runtime of Chromebooks, which is 10 hours and 19 minutes.

Amazing speed

It has incredible speed. This device runs butter smooth with every touch. Boots in 8 seconds that you are a couple of seconds away from being ready to work or play. Its verified boot helps keep your files virus-free, while automatic updates run seamlessly in the background.

Cool, engaging gestures

You will encounter Attractive gestures like swipe ups, got to home, hold for multitasking. Split screen, short swipe up to see recent apps swipe from the left to go back, and much more. However, you need to get used to it first so that you enjoy its gestures. The gestures don’t work when the keyboard is attached.

USI stylus support

The next best thing about this device is that it supports USI stylus. We are looking forward to the brand new USI stylus by Lenovo.

Screen display and speakers

I personally loved the screen brightness and the speakers at this price range. The later is not that great but loud enough to soothe your ear. The company mentioned the screen brightness as FHD (1920 x 1200) resolution in 400 nits brightness for sharp details and color.

Satisfying camera quality

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet webcam has two cameras: a 2MP front camera and an 8MP rear camera. With such a low price, I thought the camera quality would be negotiated, but I was wrong. The camera produces crisp and sharp pictures, better than webcams. I think it is pretty good but could be better.

PROS

  • Affordable
  • unbeatable Battery life
  • Ultra-portable
  • Includes kickstand and keyboard

CONS

  • No headphone jack
  • Lacks in multitasking
  • Excessive small touchpad and keyboard itself.
  • Keyboard backlight

There is no headphone jack, which you will find on the Surface Go and iPad. It’s disappointing, and it means you’ll have to rely on an adapter or Bluetooth earbuds. But it has a keyboard and kickstand, which is not a case in surface Go and iPad models.

The detachable keyboard is very tiny. And the touchpad is almost 3.4 x 1.9 inches. Typing via it can be a difficult task. Since I was used to typing in regular keyboards, when I tried this, I could not type what I want to type! I used to press to wrong key all the time. The amount of time is uncountable! The spacing is tight, but not undoubtedly congested. Also, this device may not be the most comfortable in your lap. It’s steady, but the keyboard won’t let you work in peace. Therefor a plane desk will be the best idea.

The touchpad, on the other hand, allows a single double and triple figure touch as well. But you can utilize this benefit only if you have small hands since they are tiny.

Another issue with the keyboard was that it does not have backlighting. That makes it very difficult to work in dim light.

Who should buy the Lenovo Chromebook duet?

In my opinion, Lenovo Chromebook duet suits all the necessary criteria a gamer needs. Its fantastic battery life is one of the reasons. The device runs very smoothly. I didn’t experience any hanging or “need to refresh” conditions.

Apart from gamers, anyone with a basic tablet or laptop requirement can use the device. Since it provides all the facilities, one thing to be noted, writers or people with comparatively more typing work avoid using Duet.

Summing up

Chromebook duet is a beautiful, elegant, and classy device. It satisfies all the work of a laptop or a tablet. Miniature built and portability is one of the plus points and could be cons as well. With a starting price of $279, it’s certainly not possible for a device to include so many benefits and advantages.

Speaker and camera quality is right, could be better. Screen brightness, battery life, and of course, its performance is unnegotiable. In contrast, the Duet’s thick bezels and absent headphone jack disappointed me.

In case you’re a Chrome OS-adoring successive voyager or a hard worker looking for a little, auxiliary presentation, I’d recommend the Duet instantly. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is as yet an astounding value for-your-money item that is an absolute star in the 2-in-1 Chromebook space.
